Mr Fouad EL-KARNICHI is currently a PhD candidate at the University of Sherbrooke in Canada, Faculty of Education (Department of pedagogy). His research topic is entitled : “Exploring professional, pedagogical and curricular practices in translation programs in Qatar: Towards the development of a localized competency-based approach”. His Msc was in Translation and Interpreting from Heriot Watt University in Scotland and his BA in Linguistics from Sidi Mohammed Bin Abdellah (Morocco).
Previously he worked as a lecturer in translation and an instructor in interpreting at universities based in Qatar, Morocco and Oman . He also led and facilitated on-line workshops on soft skills in translation practice for a world-wide trainee audience using virtual learning/training environments.
He is a member of the Canadian Association of Translation Studies; The Arab Professional Translators Society, and of the Higher Education Teaching and Learning Association.
His research interests are : translator education and training in the Arabic context, professionalization in translation practice, translation and interpreting program evaluation, translation technologies and educational technologies in a university context.
Last, Mr Fouad El karnichi worked as a professional in-house translator–interpreter in Qatar and Morocco. Since 2007, He has also worked as a virtual translator and outsourcer with many agencies and direct clients worldwide providing services in translation, localization, subtitling, revising and interpreter testing.
