Fauzia Shamim is a Professor and Coordinator of the female section in the English Language Centre, Taibah University, Saudi Arabia. Earlier, she was Head, Department of English at the University of Karachi in Karachi, Pakistan.
Dr Shamim has taught ESL/EFL and trained English language teachers in a variety of settings in Pakistan and internationally.Her current research interests include teaching-learning of English in difficult circumstances (including large classes) and teacher development of non-native English speaker teachers, in particular. She won the TESOL award for best paper on non-native speaker teacher issues in 2014.
DR Shamim has presented papers as invited plenary speaker at international conferences in the UK, Indonesia, Ethiopia, Bangladesh, and Tanzania.  She has also published widely in these areas.
Dr Shamim is a co-founder member of the Society of Pakistan English Language Teachers (SPELT), Pakistan and a member of the publication committee of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Association of Language Teachers (KSAALT).  Recently, she won the TESOL award for its leadership mentoring program (2016).
